Srinagar, June 10: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar (MeT Centre SRN) has issued a weather forecast indicating a change in weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir from June 11 onwards, with rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds expected at several places.

June 10

Weather is expected to remain generally hot and dry across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir. However, brief showers at isolated locations during the afternoon cannot be ruled out.

June 11–12

The weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy with one or two spells of light to moderate rain, brief intense showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at many places. Wind speeds may reach 40–50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph.

June 13–17

The region is expected to witness partly to generally cloudy skies with scattered spells of light rain, brief intense showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated to scattered locations.

Advisory

The MeT Centre has advised residents to remain cautious as:

  • Thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph) are possible at isolated to scattered places during June 11–12.
  • Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) may occur at a few places during June 13–17.
  • Brief intense showers in parts of Kashmir and Jammu divisions could trigger flash floods, waterlogging, and mudslides, particularly in vulnerable areas between June 11 and June 14.

Public Advisory

Residents, farmers, travelers, and tourists are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions during periods of adverse weather. People living in landslide-prone and flood-prone areas should remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall events.
